All current e-bike motors
Together with the battery, the motor is the centrepiece of every e-bike. It is the motor that ultimately turns a bike into an e-bike. As in the entire e-bike market, the technological development of e-bike motors is extremely dynamic. The development cycles of the major manufacturers are getting shorter and the products are getting better and better.
Just a few years ago, Bosch was the seemingly unassailable market leader for e-bike motors, and the Bosch motor has long been the hallmark of e-bike quality. However, the industry leader's lead is becoming increasingly smaller. Although Bosch still has the highest market share, its competitors, above all Shimano, are hot on the heels of the Stuttgart-based company. Bosch and Shimano are currently in a neck-and-neck race for supremacy in the e-bike motor market. As soon as one of them has gained an advantage, the other will equal or even overtake it with an update or a new generation of motors. Bosch or Shimano has now become a question of faith. We present the motors of both manufacturers in detail.
Let's say one thing up front: you can't go far wrong. Both manufacturers offer high-quality, powerful and efficient e-bike motors that guarantee plenty of riding fun.
