The S5 has only one job - to reach the finish line before anyone else. With riders like Wout van Aert, Marianne Vos and Christophe LaPorte, it's an unrivalled tool, and it's the bike that secured Wout the green jersey at this year's Tour. With 480 points, Wout finished 194 points ahead of his nearest rival - tangible proof that Cervélo continues to deliver aerodynamic improvements to our World Tour athletes. This score is the highest in the history of the Tour de France.
The new S5 has reduced drag by 65 grams while increasing the surface area of the frame and reducing overall weight. The deeper frame cut-outs maximise the shapes allowed by the new UCI regulations. At the same time, the iconic V-stem has been further refined and a new fork has been developed to simplify the entire cockpit.
In addition, a ground-breaking new wheel concept has been developed in collaboration with Reserve to increase stability and reduce drag in turbulent conditions.
V STANDS FOR SIMPLE
In the quest for speed, everyone wants to try out different positions to find the most aggressive setting. Not only does the S5's iconic V-stem provide a confident ride at high speeds, but it's now remarkably easy to dial in your perfect setup. All the necessary spacers are included and there is now only one bolt length, reducing complexity and making the system 53 g lighter.
The new UCI regulations for aerodynamic design have given us extra leeway to sharpen our aero profiles and squeeze some more performance out of what is already the fastest aero bike on the market. You'll notice a more tapered head tube and a slimmer bottom bracket area, as well as more aggressive shaping on the trailing edges of the tubes. Since the new S5 is only compatible with electronic shifting, we were able to clean up the dropout a bit and update the shaping on the entire bike.
This bike arrives (almost) fully assembled. All you have to do is straighten the handlebars and attach the pedals.
